FAQs

What is Coaching vs Therapy/Counseling?

The key difference between therapy and life coaching is the focus and timeframe of the work. Therapy generally addresses past experiences and focuses on mental health and emotional healing, whereas life coaching centers around the present moment and future, helping individuals achieve success and reach their goals. Coaching is not intended to treat mental illness but rather to assist in personal and professional development, guiding individuals towards the future they wish to create.

Does my insurance cover coaching?

At this time, coaching services are not covered by health insurance. Payment is required prior to the coaching session and can be made directly through Venmo or Cash App.

What is my approach to Coaching?

My coaching approach is grounded in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), a mindfulness-based psychology with a strong scientific foundation. ACT Coaching is an action-oriented approach that encourages acceptance of what is beyond your control while committing to actions that enrich and improve your life. Through ACT, you'll learn to embrace and accept your thoughts and feelings, while taking steps towards behavior change. This approach combines mindfulness, acceptance, and committed action to help you become more flexible in managing life's challenges and achieve greater joy and fulfillment.

Where can I get more information about ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)?

Discover more about ACT and how it can impact and benefit the coaching environment by exploring the following links. While these articles discuss ACT within the context of mental health, it's worth noting that ACT is also backed by Steven Hayes, Ph.D. (founder of ACT) and Russ Harris, Ph.D. (acclaimed ACT trainer), for use in the coaching environment. As you'll see, the application of ACT is just as relevant and successful in coaching as it is in mental health.

What can you expect from working with me?

During our virtual sessions, we'll begin by discussing your goals and what you hope to achieve through Life Coaching. In each session, we'll start with an initial check-in to explore what's on your mind and what concerns you may have. As your coach, my role is to listen and ask questions to help you identify your values, goals, and the necessary steps to achieve them. You'll be the one doing most of the talking, as I guide you to reach your own conclusions in alignment with your values and goals. I do this by listening, asking questions, and making observations. Our sessions will be relaxed and casual, focused on addressing current issues and developing strategies to achieve your desired outcomes. The coaching process will bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.

Rest assured that our sessions will take place in a safe, confidential, and judgment-free environment. This is a space where you can speak your truth and work towards achieving your goals with ease and confidence.
